The Canoniczar Says that Canonicalize Ain't an English Word, Foo

The other day, I realized that in English, we don't have a word for: 'a person who canonizes'. The French word for this is canonizare, I think.  As an English alternative, my friend Mike Pope suggested:

Canoniczar

:-) which is brilliantly witty.  In this case, a new word is necessary.

BUT I DRAW A LINE IN THE SAND
-------------------------------------------

<rant>Canonize is a word that means 'to add to a canon'.  A canon is a set of laws or rules or a commonly accepted standard.

Canonize is a word. 'Canonicalize' is not a word.

'Canonicalize' may be a function or a method in your favorite programming language but it is not a word in the English language.</rant>
