Bill Gates & His Legacy
Bill Gates – is a unique guy. What he achieved at Microsoft is a story that is well known and celebrated. I was lucky enough to have been part of the that ride since 92’ and its been exciting to say the least. I will never forget the first BillG email I got. It was exciting that that the CEO was directly sending me mail on a feature that I was working on. It was a Saturday morning. And I spent rest of weekend composing my response to is criticism of some of our architectural designs J
Bill has over the last few years has spend many hrs with us in architectural reviews. Dynamics business was new to him and he was able to use these reviews to not just push and given us feedback on the apps we were building but also take away the work we had to do broadly across the company in platforms in support of model driven development and roles based user experiences and such. This has been invaluable to us and has helped shape of Dynamics Wave strategy and deliverables.
What excites me most is that Bill even in his go forward focus at the Foundation will be using Dynamics!! Yes both of Bill’s other interests – The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Corbis – use Dynamics to run their business. So I am sure we will continue to get lots of feedback on how we are doing both as a customer and as chairman of Microsoft.
But now I have to sign off…. to prepare for a Bill review that we have tomorrow!! Just a reminder to myself that that Bill is still Chief Software Architect for a while to come.

Satya Nadella is corporate vice president responsible for leading the Product Group within Microsoft Business Solutions.
Nadella joined Microsoft in 1992 and has held a variety of marketing, product development and general management roles. Before taking on his current role, Nadella was responsible for launching and leading Microsoft bCentral, the leading Internet service providing Web presence, communications, customer marketing and e-commerce tools to small businesses. Nadella became part of Business Solutions when the division was formed by combining the bCentral, Great Plains and Navision a/s groups.
Before that, he was general manager for the Commerce Platforms Group and led the development efforts for Microsoft Commerce Server and Microsoft BizTalk Server. Nadella was also a key member of several advanced technology incubation efforts inside Microsoft, including interactive television (ITV) and digital rights management (DRM). Nadellas first assignment at Microsoft was in the Windows Developer Relations group, where he was a program manager.
Before joining Microsoft, Nadella was a member of the technology staff at Sun Microsystems Inc.
Nadella has a masters degree in computer science from the University of Wisconsin and a masters degree in business administration from the University of Chicago.
