Steve Clayton: Geek In Disguise
I've worked for over 10 years at Microsoft and enjoyed every minute...well, almost...apart from the incident with the orange juice.
I started as a Systems Engineer playing with Internet technologies and then migrated to the trendy area of Knowledge Management. I then got the gadget bug and worked in our mobile devices group helping Orange to launch the world's first Windows Mobile smartphone.
A new adventure beckoned and I moved in to the UK Partner Group where I became the CTO and got to talk technology with lots of interesting people. I worked with a tonne of great partners and it was this phase of my career that reminded me that software can change the world. It led me to get involved in telling stories about Microsoft and software and some Moonshine Marketing with the Blue Monster and my pal Hugh MacLeod - maybe that's just an excuse for becoming less technical and drinking fine South African wine ;)
In Nov 2007, I started a new role in Microsoft International working on Software + Services and as few other black ops projects. I'm a technology geek at heart though and use this blog to share stuff, introduce people I meet and generally talk about the impact software can have around the world. I make no apologies for when it goes off the rails :)
